Montey caught himself right in the lower lip along the side of his mouth with one of the hooks, and the rest of the lure was swaying and dangling ready to latch onto something else! 

Montey's Mom immediately called the clinic for help. The only way to remove the bait from Montey's mouth would involve a general anesthetic and brief surgery to cut the barbs and pull the remaining hook free. 

Montey was a very cooperative puppy--he had the precious look on his face that said "yeah, I know I did something wrong---sorry."

Montey's owners said they never caught a fish on that lure anyway--so there was no need to save it and bring it home!

It wasn't long, and Montey left the clinic a happy puppy--knowing he was the catch of the day!
